For those who are no longer able to look after themselves Pratt House, which is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection, provides 24-hour personal care. Personal care includes assistance with, dressing, washing, toilet, bathing, feeding etc. Here the residents also have their own individual rooms, all with en-suite facilities, but are not expected to look after themselves.
Pratt House can also cater for short stay residents, which can allow home carers a temporary break from their caring duties. Elderly persons can be accommodated for periods of a few days up to a few weeks, subject to availability.
If ultimately it becomes necessary for a resident to receive full long-term nursing care, which Pratt House cannot provide, the Abbeyfield Buckinghamshire Society manages the Leonard Pulham Nursing Home at Halton near Aylesbury, and, subject to room availability, a transfer may be arranged.
The care of our residents is paramount. Trained staff, and others who are undertaking National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) training, have the ability to provide personal care for the diverse needs of our residents. They are able to provide the individual support to encourage the residents to live with dignity and as independently as possible.
In addition to our own experience in the care of older people we have the support of an excellent local medical centre and its team of district nurses.
The residents' rooms are arranged on two floors, the upper floor being served by two lifts. The house is equipped with assisted bathrooms, a help call monitoring and response system, fire alarm system, communal dining room and lounge, and a garden with a summer house.
