Fees vary according to size and type of room, and are necessarily considerably higher at Pratt House, our Residential Care Home than at the two Supported Sheltered Houses. For detals of current fees, please contact either the Area Housing Manager, by telephone on 07587 135 716, or by e-mail, or the relevant House Manager on the house telephone number shown on the Addresses page.
For those whose income is insufficient to cover the residential fees charged by the society, assistance may be available from the Social Services Department of the relevant local authority, usually Buckinghamshire County Council. Under present rules, however, no assistance is available to anyone whose total assets exceed £23,250 (this limit applies in England, the other UK countries have different limits). Assets include property, although this is not normally taken into account if the property is still occupied by one's partner, or by a relative who is either over 60 or is incapacitated. Since residential care fees can quickly erode the assets of anyone with a low income, it is recommended that Social Services be approached well before the person's assets are reduced to £23,250, as it can take some time for their assessment to be carried out.
The Nursing Home Fees Agency is a financial adviser specialising in care homes, and a great deal of helpful information can be found on the Age UK web site.
